Coindre Leadership Program
BROTHERS of the SACRED HEART
The Brothers of the Sacred Heart have developed a program named for their founder, Fr. André Coindre. It is an intense personal formation program designed to assist participants in deepening their understanding of the educational charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and in preparing them to mentor others in the charism in order to better ensure its continued lived expression in our schools. To this end, the program seeks to form school leaders who are rooted in a spirituality of the Heart of Christ, committed to the building of a Christian community, dedicated to the mission and apostolate of André Coindre, and willing and able to form future generations of school leaders in this tradition.
The Coindre Leadership Program has been segmented into three interrelated components: directed readings, essential experiences, and Brothers of the Sacred Heart communal experiences.
The four administrators at E. D. White Catholic High School are participants in the program. David Boudreaux (president) has completed the program under the guidance of Brother Xavier Werneth. Myra Luft (principal) is in her fourth year in the program under the guidance of Brother Ray Hebert, past principal of E. D. White. Michelle Chiasson (academic assistant principal) is beginning her third year in the program, and her mentor is Brother Francis David, past provincial of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. She experienced life in Lyon, France, this summer as she attended the Centre International André Coindre. This experience, held at the home of the founder, helps participants become immersed in the grace of the founding moments of the Institute. Participants spend time in prayer, reflection, pilgrimage, and discussion to better translate the charism into modern actions and language. Gwen Duet (dean of students) is beginning her second year in the program under the guidance of Brother Ivy LeBlanc.
